Thursday Postings: Recipes To Try . . . From Our Favourite Foodies

And this week's favourite recipe is...

Recipes we MUST try…2012.

When we find the time (yes, we all have that issue!) we love to search out our a favourite online recipe from a website/blogger/cookbook that has caught our attention. There are so many wonderful recipe-laden truly GORGEOUS food posts out there; some of our favourites are He Needs Food, Cook RepublicMish Delish, Bizzy Lizzy’s Good Things, Love and Olive Oil, Inside Cuisine, What Katie Ate and many many more.

Thursday 29th November 2012: Can’t Say No To Gooey Cinnamon Cake

We’ve spotted a gorgeous new book just released by Smitten Kitchen, and a post on the book by one of our favourite food writers David Lebovitz. And who can resist a step-by-step recipe for Gooey Cinnamon Cake? Not us! We MUST give this one a go. Yum.

Thursday 22nd November 2012: It’s Time to Drink Cider Sangria

Since it’s Thanksgiving time in the U.S.A, we thought we’d get into the Thanksgiving spirit. Cider Sangria anyone? We think it’s great for any time  of the year (not just Thanksgiving). We love The Shiksa – she not only has a great sense of humour but her recipes and website are really wonderful. This week she shares her Cider Sangria and we love it!

Thursday 15th November 2012: Grab Yourselves Some Grissini

Who loves a simple recipe? These Grissini from Vintage Macaroon look just that. Simple, easy and something that you no longer need to spend a fortune on buying. Time to make your own grissini – who’s game? Wrapped in some breseola (air dried beef), they make a wonderful nibble with drinks.

Thursday 8th November 2012: Fine Southern Fare

As Lisa is busy planning her trip to ‘The Carolinas” in the South of the U.S.A, we can’t help but be inspired by this post from A Cook and her Books. It is such a staple dessert from that part of the world and we think it’s time that we started baking this iconic Buttermilk Chess Pie. Tea with that? Or maybe bourbon! And we are all still left wondering why it is called a “Chess” Pie?

Thursday 1st November 2012: Rustic Ratatouille Tart

Check out this lovely blog called Lisa is Cooking (great name…) and a beautiful dish to make when eggplants and capsicums/bell peppers are abundant and sweet. Lisa’s Roasted Ratatouille Tart makes great use of a simple ratatouille and transforms it into a wonderful rustic dish that we just love the look of!

And while you’re there, check out Lisa’s recent trip to Spain….amazing!

Thursday 24th October 2012: Blood Oranges, Rice, Afternoon Tea.

We are still enjoying vibrant blood oranges at this time of year. One of our faves from  the MMCC kitchen has always been Barbara’s fabulous Blood Orange Compote (page 239).

A cook and food stylist we LOVE is the gorgeous Mish Delish. She has recently posted a really BEAUTIFUL looking Blood Orange Rice Cake made in the true Italian style with Arborio Rice and milk – time to get juicing! And while you’re at it, how about a freshly squeezed blood orange juice with a splash of campari over a glass of ice?

Thursday 18th October 2012: Mushrooms, Rice, Easy

Got a rice cooker? Time to use it for something other than steaming rice. You can actually make this fabulous looking recipe for Bizzy Lizzy’s Good Things’ mushroom risotto in your rice cooker. Definitely worth a try we say!

Thursday 11th October 2012: Oat Cookies, Chocolate, Salt

Time for some sweetness (chocolate), goodness (oats) and a twist (salt). Not only have we fallen madly in love with Cook Republic’s tantalizing pictures but this recipe for Oat and Salted Dark Chocolate Sandwich Cookies looks pretty b. great as well!
